8.3.3 CAUTIONS IN CHARGING BATTERY
If you make a handling mistake during battery charging, the battery may explode.
Strictly observe the following according to "Operation 8.3.1 Precautions in Handling Battery" and the
instruction manual attached to the charger.
Adjust the charger voltage to suit the voltage of the
battery to charge. Mistake in setting the voltage may
cause explosions due to overheat and ignition of the
charger.
Securely fix the (+) charge clip of the charger to the (+)
terminal of the battery, then securely fix the (-) charge
clip of the charger to the (-) terminal of the battery.
Set the charge current to "1/10" or less of the battery
rated capacity.
In the case of boost charge, set the charge current to the value of rated capacity or less. Excessive
charge current may cause fire and explosions due to fluid leaks or fluid deficiency.
If the battery fluid is frozen, do not charge the battery or start the engine using other power source.
The battery fluid may catch fire, causing explosion.
Do not use or charge the battery when the electrolyte level is at or below (LOW LEVEL). Doing so
may cause an explosion.
Be sure to conduct regular inspection of the battery electrolyte level and refill purified water
(example: commercial battery replenisher) to the maximum electrolyte level (UPPER LEVEL).
