1-3 SAFETY PROTECTIONS
The Junior 640, Big 800, Best 960 and Best
1250 radial arm saws machines are made safe
by special technical solutions. The machines
are characterised by the following protections
and modifications:
1) New adjustable blade guard, guaranteeing
complete covering of the blade at all cutting
depths.
2) The blade rotation has been modified so as
to prevent the machine from being used
improperly.
3) The stability of the machine has been im-
proved, as it can now be fastened to the
ground.
4) The radial arm has been modified by adding
mechanical stops; the blade is now stopped
from leaving the working area both before
and during work.
1-4 INDIVIDUAL PROTECTION AIDS
Even though the machine was designed to
comply with the regulations in force and de-
spite the protections and safety precautions it
is equipped with, the following dangers cannot
be ruled out:
- Fall or projection of wood splinters during
work
- Parts of clothes getting caught in the moving
gears of the machine
- Hazards related to the emission of dusts
- Risk of damages caused by noise
As a rule, the individual protection aids to be
used during the placing, installation, setting,
use and maintenance (routine and special) of
the machine are:
- gloves (for instance to handle parts of the
machine, pieces or to replace the blade)
- crush-proof and anti-skid shoes
- goggles or visors against the projections of
splinters or shavings during work or when
cleaning the machine
- dust-proof masks
Moreover, clothing must be appropriate to avoid
all danger of:
- entanglement
- dragging
- crushing
- slipping
- abrasion
- the use of contact lenses is forbidden.
