WRS Installation Manual
43
The following are just guidelines. Anyway the receiver shall NEVER be installed:
Inside metal structures (except the case of installation inside the machine here the machine is the
structure and also contains the WRP transmitter).
Inside deep niches.
Immediately in front of metal walls preventing the propagation of radio waves to the front of the
receiver.
CORRECT POSITIONING:
In this case the receiver fitted on top
has a direct visibility to
ward the
transmitter.
Communication takes
place correctly. The same result may
be obtained by installing the WRI
receiver inside the machine and
aligned so that it is facing the WRP
transmitter.
Figure 4-29. Correct layout with WRP transmitter and WRI receiver installed inside the machine.
CORRECT POSITIONING:
Typical configuration in which the direct
path is not possible since transmitter and
receiver do not “see” each other.
Transmission takes place through
reflections of the radio waves on floor,
ceiling, walls, and the objects present in
the area.
There must always be a window for
access to the radio waves on the
machine walls since the metal walls
screen them.
The emission direction of the transmitter
is parallel to that of the window on the
machine so, after a few rebounds the
radio signal can reach the transmitter.
Figure 4-30. Correct layout with WRP transmitter installed inside the machine and the WRI receiver installed outside.
The condition proposed in Figure 4-30 is more critical than the one proposed in Figure 4-29 for the following
reasons:
1. The radio transmission path is longer;
2. The WRI receiver is exposed to external interference (e.g. Wi-Fi
®
);
3. The machine structure acts as an obstruction to transmission, rather than shielding it from
interference;
4. Personnel who pass close to the machine or approach it with other radio transmission systems may
interfere with the connection.
5. It is very important to ensure that the maximum transmission distance does not exceed 15 m.
6. The WRI receiver should not be installed in Figure 4-30 if the machine door is fitted with a
metal grille.
