Postal Symbologies
Postal Symbology Type
Usage: The following 1D Postal Symbologies are used in mail sortation, auditing,
certified mail, registered mail, metered mail, and point-of-sale (POS) applications.
Definition: Determines the postal symbology that will be decoded by the imager.
Postal symbology decode performance depends on accurate sampling
density information. Sampling density is determined by measuring the width
in pixels of a symbol image and then dividing that value by the width of the
actual symbol in inches or meters. For example, an image of a one-inch-wide
symbol that is 200 pixels across would have a sampling density of 200 dots
per inch.
The following table shows the range of supported sampling densities.
