Thechartcanbeviewedinanumberofwaystosuityourneeds.
Youwillnormallyviewyourchartwiththevesselonscreenand
motionmode‘active’.Whenmotionmodeisactive,asyourvessel
moves,thechartisredrawntokeepthevesselonscreen.When
youzoomthechartinactivemode,thechartzoomsaboutyour
vesselposition.Alternatively,youmaybeplanningajourneyand
donotwantthecharttoredrawasyourvesselmoves.Youcan
suspendtheactivemotionmodebyusingthecursortopanthechart
orbyselectingFINDCURSOR.Whenmotionmodeissuspended,
themodeisshowninthestatusbarinparenthesise.g.(RELATIVE
MOTION);zoomoperatesaboutyourcursorposition.Providedthe
necessarydatatoascertainyourvessel’spositionisavailable,you
canactivatethemotionmode,byselectingFINDSHIP .
