Performing a proficiency test
You perform blood glucose proficiency tests on samples
provided by an independent organization and whose
values are unknown to you.
The results should be forwarded to the appropriate
source after completing the test. The supplied samples
are treated in the same manner as regular patient
samples.
The procedure outlined in this task contains the main
steps that you perform in a proficiency test.

A colored test strip port light provides guidance
of instrument status and the actions you must
take.
In the case of a QC lockout, proficiency testing cannot be
performed until the lockout has been removed.
Depending on how QC lockout is configured, you remove
it by performing and passing a QC test at level 1 and/or
level 2..
