9.2.2 Causes of Contamination
Connection lines: The connection lines are neither cleaned nor disinfected
prior to use.
Transport buffer: The transport buffer is prepared in a contaminated
container or filled into an already used standard container.
Tubing set: The tubing set is used again without having been thoroughly
cleaned or disinfected beforehand.
Disposal line | disposal tank: The disposal line is filled with liquid.
Nodisinfectant was added to the disposal tank. The disposal tank has not
been closed.
Probe sterilization: The probe has not been properly sterilized or
contaminated with a rinse solution.
9.2.3 Decontaminating Connection Lines
t Rinse the connection lines with a cleaning solution.
t Rinse each connection line with 5 ml isopropanol prior to installation.
More extended contact should be avoided, as long-term contact with
isopropanol may damage the adhesions inside the connecting piece.
9.2.4 Decontaminating the Transport Buffer
t Only use cleaned transport containers for transportation.
t Do not refill the transport container with fresh transport buffer, but use a
new | cleaned transport container.
t Filter the buffer under sterile conditions (in accordance with GMP).
9.2.5 Decontaminating the Tubing Set
t Clean the tubing set with a cleaning solution (BPT0044A/BPT0044G).
