4.3.14.1 Contour detection field
Contour detection field

he contour detection field must be designed in such a way that it recognizes an
opening in the floor at the latest when the vehicle is at the minimum distance to the
opening. The minimum distance allows the vehicle to stop in time before it reaches the
opening.
With fall protection, the minimum distance determines the required length of the con‐
tour detection field.
The contour detection field must be wide enough to cover the width of the vehicle.
The size of the relevant opening can be selected in the SafetyDesigner via the Object
resolution setting. Openings of at least the selected size are detected and cause the
vehicle to stop.
When calculating the contour detection field, the impact of turning must be considered
separately.
If you define a several monitoring cases with different protective fields, you must
calculate the contour detection field size separately for each contour detection field
used.
Influence of dark, shiny or reflective floor coverings

ery dark, shiny or reflective floor coverings can in some cases cause the camera
sensor to incorrectly detect an opening and stop the vehicle.
Measures to increase availability:

If possible, select a large object resolution (100x100 cm).

Install the camera sensor higher and adjust the viewing direction to the ground at
a steeper angle. Alternatively, you can reduce the scanning range of the contour
detection field if possible.
