10.1 Regular cleaning
Overview
D
epending on the ambient conditions, the front screen of the camera module and the
front screen of the illumination unit must be cleaned regularly and in the event of
contamination.
Important information
WARNING
C
ontamination or damage to the front screen of the camera module
If the optical properties of the camera module are impaired, persons or body parts
might not be detected or not detected in time.

Remove any contamination (e.g., droplets, condensation, frost, ice formation).
Reboot device.
b
Keep the camera module free of substances containing oil and grease.
b
If the camera module is damaged, replace the device.

o not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents.

Recommendation: Use anti-static cleaning agents.
b
Recommendation: Use anti-static plastic cleaners and lens cloths from SICK.
Approach
1.
Make sure that the dangerous state of the machine is and remains switched off
during the cleaning.
2. Remove dust from the front screen of the camera module and the front screen of
the illumination unit using a soft, clean brush.
3. Moisten a clean, soft towel with anti-static plastic cleaner. Wipe the front screens
with it.
4. Check the effectiveness of the protective device.

10.2 Regular thorough check
The thorough check is intended to ensure that the safety functions are fulfilling their
planned pur
pose and whether persons are being adequately protected.

Carry out the checks specified in the test plan of the manufacturer of the machine
and the operating entity.
