6.3 Commissioning
Safety information
Note
Since commissioning of the safety relay is an important, safety-related step, it must be carried
out by quali󹪝ed personnel.
WARNING
Loss of the safety functions
Can Cause Death, Serious Injury, or Property Damage.
To ensure the safety of the system, a full functional test of the system must be conducted after
commissioning, and a successful result obtained.
A complete function test consists of the following tests:
Con󹪝guration test (test of the con󹪝guration)
System test (wiring test of the connected sensors and actuators)
Requirements for commissioning
You will 󹪝nd further information about the procedure for con󹪝guring, planning and
commissioning in the Operating Manual Safety ES (software) in Section "Additional
documentation (Page 15)".
6.3.1 Modes
The safety relay always di󹪜erentiates between three operating modes:
Con󹪝guring mode
Test mode
Safety mode
Con󹪝guring mode (DEVICE LED: yellow)
The monitoring functions are not active in con󹪝guring mode. No signals are output at the
terminals. In con󹪝guring mode, you can modify existing parameters. This is done by creating a
con󹪝guration in the PC / PG with Safety ES and downloading it to the safety relay. It is also
possible to upload and edit a con󹪝guration available in the safety relay.
Test mode (DEVICE LED: 󹪞ickering green)
Test mode can only be accessed online from con󹪝guration mode using a PG/PC and a password-
protected command. You can switch to test mode even if the con󹪝guration has not been
released.
