Boom Section 5 – Procedures
5.4-19 Replace Limit Switch - Main Boom
The main boom limit switch is located at the base of
the main boom where the main boom connects to
the upper pivot assembly. This limit switch consists
of a normally closed contact and controls the MEWP
elevated drive speed.
1. Ensure the MEWP is on a firm level surface.
2. Ensure the boom is completely retracted and the
platform fully lowered.
3. Push in the emergency stop buttons on the
platform control console and base control
console .
4. Turn the base/off/platform key switch to the off
position . Remove the key.
5. Turn the main power disconnect switch to the off
position .
6. Access the main boom limit switch by removing
the upper pivot cover plate.
7. Disconnect the main boom limit switch harness
connector from the bundled harness.
8. Remove the main boom limit switch retaining
hardware and discard the limit switch.
9. Install the new main boom limit switch and
retaining hardware.
NOTE
Ensure proper contact is made between the
steel roller lever and the cam surface of the main
boom.
10. Securely connect the main boom limit switch
harness connector to the bundled harness.
11. Reinstall the upper pivot cover plate and
retaining hardware.
12. Ensure secure limit switch connections of the
bundled harness at the base control console.
