5.4-20 Test Main Boom Limit Switch
1. In the engine compartment, turn the main power
disconnect switch to the on position .
2. On the base control console, turn the base/off/
platform key switch to the platform position
.
3. Ensure both emergency stop buttons are pulled
out
.
4. On the platform control console, select the on
position from engine enable switch .
5. Select the start position from the engine start/on/
off switch to start the engine
.
6. Depress and hold the footswitch.
7. Raise the main boom 1.2 m (4 ft.) above the
ground and then slowly move the drive/steer
controller to the full drive position
.

Result: The maximum achievable drive speed
should be significantly less than stowed drive
speed.
8. Shut down the machine and return it to a fully
stowed position.
5.4-21 Replace Limit Switch - Riser Boom
The riser boom limit switch is located on the inside
face of the lower pivot weldment where the third
riser connects to the lower pivot assembly. This limit
switch consists of a normally closed contact and
controls the MEWP elevated drive speed.
1. Ensure the MEWP is on a firm level surface.
2. Ensure the boom is completely retracted and the
platform is fully lowered.
3. Push in the emergency stop button on the
platform control console and the base control
console
.
4. Turn the base/off/platform key switch to the off
position
. Remove the key.
5. Turn the main power disconnect switch to the off
position
.
6. Disconnect the riser boom limit switch harness
connector from the bundled harness.
7. Remove the riser boom limit switch retaining
hardware, remove the spacer plates and shims,
and discard the limit switch.
8. Install a new riser boom limit switch, spacer
plates, shims, and retaining hardware.
NOTE
Ensure proper contact is made between the steel
roller plunger and the cam surface of the third
riser boom section.
9. Securely connect the riser boom limit switch
harness connector to the bundled harness.
10. Ensure secure limit switch connections of the
bundled harness at base control console. Refer
to 3.23 Limit Switch Connections at the Base
Control Box for connection locations.
