Section 5 – Procedures Boom
5.4-13 Extension Cylinder Removal
NOTE
If removing the cylinder to service it or change
the wear pads, follow this procedure rather than
removing the fly boom section.
Preparation:
â–ª
Make sure the machine is parked on level
ground before beginning.
â–ª
Provide enough space at the counterweight end
of the machine for cylinder removal at least the
length of the main boom section.
â–ª
Place a support or stand of suitable capacity
half a boom length behind the machine. Use it
to set the end of the cylinder on if re-slinging is
required as it is being removed.
CAUTION
There is a risk of personal injury or equipment
damage if repositioning the boom during this
procedure. Use the base controls with auxiliary
power (engine off) to reposition it safely.
CAUTION
There is a risk of personal injury or equipment
damage. Always use suitable lifting equipment
and safe rigging practices when performing the
following procedures.
IMPORTANT
If boom repositioning is necessary during this
procedure, select emergency power position from
start–function enable–emergency power switch,
then activate desired boom function.
To avoid overloading the 12-volt auxiliary pump
motor when operating on auxiliary power, do not
operate more than one function at a time.
Procedure:
1. Extend the fly boom outward to access the rod
end pin on the extension cylinder.
