Section 5 – Procedures Boom
9. Install the new fly boom limit switch and
retaining hardware.
NOTE
Ensure proper contact is made between the steel
roller lever and the cam surface of the fly boom.
10. Securely connect the fly boom limit switch
harness connector to the bundled harness.
11. Secure the fly boom limit switch harness by
installing a tie wrap to the limit switch mounting
bracket.
12. Ensure secure limit switch connections of the
bundled harness at base control console. Refer
to 3.23 Limit Switch Connections at the Base
Control Box for connection locations.
5.4-24 Test Fly Boom Limit Switch
1. In the engine compartment, turn the main power
disconnect switch to the on position .
2. On the base control console, turn the base/off/
platform key switch to the platform position
.
3. Ensure both emergency stop buttons are pulled
out .
4. On the platform control console, select the on
position from the engine enable switch
.
5. Select the start position from the engine start/on/
off switch to start the engine
.
6. Depress and hold the footswitch.
7. Extend the fly boom approximately 30 cm (12")
and then slowly move the drive/steer controller
to the full drive position
.

Result: The maximum achievable drive speed
should be significantly less than the stowed
drive speed.
8. Shut down the machine and return it to a fully
stowed position.
