7.1.2 Parallel connection of supply modules
The following general conditions apply to the parallel connection of several PS6 supply
modules:
§ Only the same sizes may be connected in parallel.
§ You can connect a maximum of 6 PS6A24 in parallel.
§ You can connect a maximum of 3 PS6A34 in parallel.
§ For UL-compliant operation:
A single PS6A24 or PS6A34 supply module converts the AC (3-phase) input voltage into a
common DC bus output voltage, which is used to feed one or more SI6 drive controllers.
§ You can connect one braking resistor for each supply module.
§ Observe a derating factor of 0.8 each for the sum in parallel connection for nominal power,
current and charging capacity.
§ The resistance values of the braking resistors must be the same. Note that the power is
output to all braking resistors in equal parts.
§ Take into account the specifications for the fuse design for each supply module within the
group. Each supply module must be protected individually; see the chapter CE-compliant
line fuse [}104].
§ All supply modules must be connected to the same three-phase supply grid.
§ The grid must be switched on at all supply modules simultaneously; see the chapter Grid
connection [}105].
§ Each supply module also has to be grounded at the ground bolt of the Quick DC-Link
module if the cross-section of the grounding conductor at X10 is less than 10mm²; see the
chapter CE-compliant housing grounding [}107].
§ There are no restrictions for the position of a supply module within the group.
§ Mixed supply operation with drive controllers of the 6th STOBER drive controller generation
is not permitted.
Parallel connection
The following table shows example combinations for parallel connection. A derating factor of 0.8
is taken into account for the values.
