AdjustingtheTractionSpeed
Eachrearwheelmustrotateatthesamespeedforthevehicletotrackina
straightline.Adjustingthetractionspeedshouldonlybenecessaryifoneof
thehydraulicpumps,wheelmotors,orpartsofthetractioncontrolassemblyis
repairedorreplaced.Adjusttherighthandcontrolrst,thensetthelefthand
controltomatch.
SpecialEquipmentRequired:
Non-contacttachometer(phototach)
SpeedsettingtoolToropartnumber132–7595
1.Raisetherearwheelsofftheground;refertoJackingInstructions(page1–6).
2.Removethehoodandlowertheoperatorscushion.
3.Starttheengineandsetthethrottlecontroltofullspeed.Useanon-contact
tachometer(phototach)toverifytheengineRPM;refertoEngine
Specications(page2–3).
CAUTION
Usecautionwhenperformingthisprocedure.Thetractionunit
wheelswillberotatingduringtheprocedure.
4.MovebothtractioncontrolleverstothefullFORWARDposition,andallowthe
hydraulicsystemtowarmforatleastoneminute.
5.EnsurethateachtractioncontrolleverreturnstotheNEUTRALpositionand
eachwheelstopsrotatingwhenreleased.
Note:IfthetractioncontrollinkagereturnstotheNEUTRALpositionbut
thewheelcontinuestorotate,adjustthereturntoneutralmechanismon
thepump;refertoReturntoNeutralSettingintheHydro-GearPSeries
HydrostaticPumpsServiceandRepairManual.
6.Useanon-contacttachometer(phototach)toverifytherearwheelspeed.
Eachrearwheelshouldrotateat160RPM.
7.Stoptheengine.
8.Toadjustthetractionspeed:
A.Loosentheupperandlowerjamnutsontherighthandcontrolrod.
Note:Thelowerjamnuthaslefthandthreads.
