IMPORTANT
Airmustbepurgedfromthehydraulicsystemtoreducethechance
ofcomponentdamage.
Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponentssuch
aswheelmotors,pumps,orcylinders,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystem
ischargedproperlytoremoveairfromthesystem.
IMPORTANT
Flushthehydraulicsystemwheneverthereisaseverecomponent
failureorthesystemiscontaminated;refertoFlushingtheHydraulic
System(page5–49).
1.ParkthemachineonalevelsurfaceandsetthekeyswitchtotheOFF
position.
2.Raisethemachinesotherearwheelsareoffthegroundandfreetorotate;
refertoJackingInstructions(page1–6).
3.Ensurethatallofthehydraulicconnectionsaresecuredtightly.
4.Ensurethatthehydraulicreservoirisfull.Addthecorrectquantityandtype
ofhydraulicuidifnecessary;refertothetractionunitOperator’sManual.
5.Ifthepiston(traction)orgearpumpwasreplacedorrepaired,primethe
hydraulicpumps;refertoPrimingtheHydraulicSystem(page5–54).
6.Makesurethetractioncontrolisinneutral,thenstarttheengineandletit
idleatlowspeed.Thehydraulicpumpsshouldpickuphydraulicuidandll
thehydraulicsystem.Ifthereisnoindicationofthesystemllingwithin30
seconds,setthekeyswitchtotheOFFpositionanddeterminethecause.
IMPORTANT
Checkhydraulicreservoiruidlevelfrequentlywhilechargingthe
systemandadduidifnecessary.
7.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowthesignsofll,usethecontrolvalve
toextendandretracttheattachmentcylindersseveraltimes.
8.Ifacylinderdoesnotmoveafter15secondsorthegearpumpemits
abnormalsounds:
A.ImmediatelysetthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition.
B.Checkforincorrecthoserouting.
C.Ensurethatthesuctionlineisnotblocked.
D.Makesurethereliefvalve(RV1)inthecontrolvalveisnotdamaged
orblockedopen.
E.Testgearpumpfordamage.
9.Operatethetractioncontrolleversintheforwardandreversedirections.
Makesurethewheelsareturningintheproperdirection.Ifthepiston
(traction)pumporawheelmotorwasreplacedorrebuilt,operatethetraction
circuitslowlyfor5minutes.
10.SetthekeyswitchtotheOFFposition.
