Theparkingbrakeswitchisanon-adjustablenormallyopenplungerswitch.The
switchisactuatedbytheparkingbrakelever.Theswitchcontactsshouldbe
openwhentheparkingbrakeisengaged(switchplungerextended),andclosed
whentheparkingbrakeisdisengaged(switchplungerdepressed).Theswitchis
attachedtoabracketontheleftsideofthemachinebelowthecontrolpanel.
Thehourmeter/controllermonitorsthepositionoftheparkingbrakeswitch.The
switchmustbeopen(parkingbrakeengaged)tostarttheengine.
TestingtheParkingBrakeSwitch
Theparkingbrakeswitchanditscircuitwiringcanbetestedusingthehour
meter/controllerdisplaywhenthekeyswitchisintheONposition.Iftesting
determinesthattheswitchorthecircuitwiringarenotfunctioningcorrectly,
proceedwiththefollowingtestprocedure:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,loweranyattachmentsandsetthekey
switchtotheOFFposition.
2.Removethehood.
3.Disconnectthebatterynegative(-)cableatthebattery;refertoRemoving
andInstallingtheBattery(page6–29).
4.Disconnectthewireharnessconnectorfromtheswitch.Checktheswitch
andtheharnessconnectorfordamageorcorrosionandcleanorrepairif
necessary.Removetheswitchand/orbracketfromthemachineifnecessary.
5.Useamultimeter(ohmssetting)sandtesttheswitchasfollows:
