PrimingtheHydraulicSystem
Wheneverhydraulicuidhasbeendrainedfromthepumpsorwheel
motors(systemdrain,ush,pumpremoval/installation,orwheelmotor
removal/installation)itisimportanttoproperlyprimethehydraulicsystem.
Primingthehydraulicsystemensuresthatthegearpump,thepiston(traction)
pumps,andthewheelmotorshavesufcientuidwhilechargingthehydraulic
system.
IMPORTANT
Ifthepiston(traction)pumporwheelmotorwasrebuiltorreplaced,
makesurethepumpormotorhousingisatleasthalffullofclean
hydraulicuidafterinstallation.
1.Makesureallhydraulicconnectionsareproperlytightened.
2.Checkthehydraulicuidlevelinthehydraulicreservoirandaddthecorrect
typeandquantityofuidifnecessary;refertothetractionunitOperator’s
Manual.
3.Disconnectthesparkplugwiresfromthesparkplugs.
4.SetthekeyswitchtotheSTARTpositionandcrankthestarterfor15seconds
toprimethehydraulicpump.Waitfor30secondstoallowthestartermotor
andstartersolenoidtocool.Repeatthecrankingprocedureforthesecond
time.
5.Connectthesparkplugwires.
6.Chargethehydraulicsystem;refertoChargingtheHydraulicSystem(page
5–55).
