4.4.1.3 Manually scanning for devices
You can manually scan for devices. Manual scanning only sends a single search command, and you can
specify if you want to send the Wakeup Signal, as well as the “listening” time using the “estimated # of
devices” entered. This is useful, for example, when you know there’s exactly one receiver present but aren’t
sure of its serial number.
NOTE: The Wakeup Signal is also only applicable to 69 kHz receivers.
STEP 1
Select “Manual Scan…” (#3)
in the main screen.
STEP 2
Decide if you want to send the
wakeup signal. Select “Yes” or
“No”.
STEP 3
Use the up/down arrows to enter
the estimated number of devices,
then select “Send”.
STEP 4
The VR100-200 listens for the units in the area to respond. If you
selected “Yes” at Step 2, the wakeup command is broadcast in the
area, and a count-down (“T-x” where x is the seconds) is shown on
the screen.
STEP 5
If the number of receivers found does not match the expected
number and you want to repeat the scan, Select “Rescan”.
Otherwise, you can press “View” to view a list of the units that
responded along with the over-all distance from the hydrophone to
the receiver.
STEP 6
Select the desired unit from the list of receivers by either moving through the list using the direction
arrow buttons and then pressing the right selection button (under “Select” on the display), or by
pressing the associated number on the keypad. For example, pressing the “2” button on the keypad
will select VR2AR serial number 12346.
The rest of the units will wait in case you want to talk to them after
you’re finished with your first selection (i.e. you don’t have to scan
again).
Press the “Menu” button to go back.
