By default, the minimum number of devices used is three (3) and the maximum is nine (9). These values
can be increased if there are a large number of receivers in the area and issues arise when trying to establish
communication.
The maximum number of slots refers to the incrementing aspect of the
scanning period. If the VR100 detects that a collision occurred between
responding receivers (i.e. more than one receiver responded at the same
time, thus causing the pings to overlap and be unidentifiable), the
VR100 will increase the number of slots by one the next time it scans. If
this issue repeats, the number of time slots the VR100 waits will
increment by one until the maximum number of slots is reached.
If the maximum number of slots is reached and the receivers have not responded, another wakeup command
is broadcast and the scanning process repeats until the set maximum number of wakeups is reached.
6.1.2.2.3 Reset Session
Resetting the transponding session restores default parameters such as raw ping logging, frequency, channel
configuration, and power level. It also clears the device list and breaks any established communication links
with receivers. Only use this option when there is no active transponding session. The session times out
after 10 minutes of inactivity; keep in mind that a receiver stays "awake" if it hears a command addressed to a
different receiver.
6.1.2.2.4 Logging
This logging feature enables/disables logging of raw transponding pings, mainly for debugging purposes.
6.1.2.2.5 Frequency
This feature allows you to Transpond with a particular device even if the wrong hydrophone is used;
communications and range cannot be guaranteed in this case. The setting reverts to the default (AUTO) on
each power up. In AUTO mode, the transponding frequency is selected based on the connected hydrophone.
