VEMCO – VR100 Manual 28 May 2018 36
4.4.1.4 Setting the hydrophone power
By default, the hydrophone’s transmit power level is set to 7-Maximum. You may only need to try different
settings for troubleshooting purposes. The asterisk (*) is shown under the current power setting. When the
asterisk is beneath the “1” then the text “minimum” will appear in the bottom left corner to indicate this is the
minimum power setting and “maximum” appears when the asterisk is beneath the “7”.
What power level should you use? That depends on your environment and situation. For example, a high
power level can allow for greater range between the transponding hydrophone and the receiver, but given the
right situation can cause echo noise that would adversely affect communication. The best power level for
your situation depends on your situation. We recommend starting at the highest power level (7) and making
changes only as needed.
STEP 1
Select
“Hydrophone
Power” (#4) in
the main screen.
STEP 2
Use the up/down
arrows to set the
power level, then
select “Set”.
Press “Menu” to return to previous menu level.
4.4.1.5 Removing devices
You can manually remove devices from the list (devices have to exist in a list, otherwise, this option is not
visible).
STEP 1
Select “Remove Device…”
(#5) in the main screen.
STEP 2
Select the device in the list and
press Select.
STEP 3
The device is removed from the
list.
STEP 4
If no response pings are received, the following screen is displayed.
To try again, select “Retry”. To force the removal of the device,
select “Remove”.
IMPORTANT: If the device is not active, the process will simply remove it from the list without any further
action. If the device has been heard from recently (i.e. active) the VR100 may send it a command to “unlink”
it with the VR100, but it will not suspend the device’s recording mode (or “put it to sleep”).
