Chapter 7, Using Vitals Desktop: Transferring Data Between Vitals Desktop and Vitals Mobile
E.H. Wachs Part No. 79-MAN-04, Rev. I 163
HC-100 Data Transfer
For the HC-100 controller, there are two data transfer meth-
ods:
• Flash Transfer—Uses a USB flash drive that you share
between the devices. See “Database Options” on
page 185.
• Vitals Mobile-HC—Uses Window Mobile Device Cen-
ter to create a USB (direct cable) link between the two
devices.
USB Flash Transfer with HC-100 Controller
The USB flash drive must be
formatted with the FAT32 file
system. The drive must be
compatible with the USB 1.1
standard. 8 GB capacity or
less is recommended; larger
drives take more time to load
in the OS.
Not all USB flash drives are
compatible with Windows
Mobile 6.5. If the handheld
controller won’t read your
USB flash drive, try another
model with the correct speci-
fications.
Use a USB flash drive to transfer data between Vitals Desk-
top and Vitals Mobile-TC. The flash transfer process will
automatically synchronize all valve and activity data
between Desktop and Mobile.
These are the steps of the transfer process:
• Plug a USB flash drive into the HC-100 controller and
transfer the data to the flash drive.
• Plug the flash drive into the Vitals Desktop computer
and transfer the data into Vitals Desktop.
• Export the updated Vitals database back to the flash
drive.
• Plug the flash drive back into the HC-100 controller and
transfer the data to Vitals Mobile-HC.
NOTE: It is possible to transfer data from multiple control-
lers to a single flash drive before importing the records into
the desktop database. However, you will have to perform
the import process individually for each handheld transfer.
(The transfers will appear as separate folders on the import
screen, shown in Figure 7-24.)
The following figures display the Data Transfer screens for
the available connection types. Use the
Connect To drop-
down box to select the connection type.
• If connecting to a device running Vitals Mobile, connect
the controller USB cable to the controller and to a USB
port on your PC. In the
Connect To dropdown box, select
Vitals Mobile. The Connect Using dropdown box will
