Installing Non-Preconfigured Agilent Cary 8454 UV-Visible
Spectrophotometer Systems
You must install and configure the software. In addition, you may need to
install and configure an instrument communication interface such as the
GPIB PCI interface card.
✔ Ensure you have space and an appropriate power supply.
For more information, see “Site Requirements for Your
Spectrophotometer” on page 19.
✔ Unpack the system - check for damage and contents against packing
list.
For more information, see “Unpacking Your Spectrophotometer” on
page 22.
✔ Install your UV-Visible spectrophotometer.
• Connect the line power to the rear.
• Connect the waste tubing underneath the sample pan.

✔ If your computer and printer are not supplied by Agilent, ensure that
the requirements for proper operation of the software are met.

✔ Install the GPIB interface board in your computer.

✔ Install your computer and printer.
• Connect the keyboard and mouse.
• Connect the monitor to the power supply and to the computer.
• Connect the printer to the power supply and to the computer.
• Connect the computer to the spectrophotometer with the GPIB cable.
