F-FEM-CON — User’s Guide
4.8.2
Description of Function
The Watchdog is used to monitor the function of the PUMA Open or EMCON
system.
The automation system must cyclically send a request for toggling the trigger
signal (Watchdog live). Prior to this, however, the system must check whether
the relay has been released or if it is still closed due to melted contacts. The WD
relay is switched on after a number of pulses. This can be read back by opening
the normally closed contact (WD-NC). Simultaneously, the normally open
contacts are closed, e.g. to close an emergency stop circuit. A normally open
contact is then transmitted to the two F-FEM-DIO modules (if connected) and is
available there for connecting safety circuits.
The WD-live signal is also transmitted to the connected F-FEM-DIOs.
If the required trigger frequency is not kept, the relay is immediately released,
which indicates a malfunction.
If several F-FEM-CON modules are used, it is sufficient that one of these
F-FEM-CONs performs this function (according to the wiring and as determined
in the software).
The trigger signal (Watchdog live) can be connected at the socket for F-OUT1
and F-OUT2 (refer to pin assignment under "Frequency Outputs X15, X16").
The state of the relay is indicated by a status LED (firmware revision 1.1.100:
LED is illuminated when relay has not picked up).
The trigger frequency can be set by a bit. Two times can be set: 10 ms is the
default setting after power-up. 20 ms can be set via the software, if required.
