Fuel R equirements

Always use fresh gaso-
line. Gasoline will oxidize; the re-
sult is loss of octane, volatile com-
pounds, and the production of gum
and varnish deposits which can
damage the fuel system.
Alcohol fuel blend ing v aries by coun-
try and r egion. Your vehicle has been
designed to op erate usin g t he rec om -
mended fuels, howev er, be aware of
the follow ing:
– Us e of fuel containing alcohol above
the perc enta ge specified by gov -
ernment regulations i s not recom -
mended and can result in the fol-
lowing problems in the fuel system
components:
• Starting and operating difficul-
ties.
• Deterioration of rubber or plastic
parts.
• Corrosion of metal parts.
• Da m age to internal engine parts .
– Insp ec t frequently for the p res ence
of fuel leaks or other fuel system
abnormalities if yo u suspect the
presence of alcohol in ga s oline ex-
ceeds the current gov ernm ent reg-
ulations.
– A lcohol blended fuels attract and
hold moisture w hich may lead to
fuel pha s e separation and can result
in engine performanc e problems or
engine da m a ge.
Recommended Fuel

damages may occur with the use of
an inadequate fuel.

Vehicle Fu eling Proc edure
WARNING
– Fuel is flammable and explosive
under certain conditions.
– Never use an open flame to
check fuel level.
– Never smoke or allow flame or
spark in vicinity.
– Always work in a well-ventilated
area.

Always stop engine before refuel-
ing.

of vehicle .
WARNING
Do not allow anyone to remain in
the vehicle while fueling. If there is
a fire or explosion during fueling, a
vehicle occupant could be unable
to quickly leave the area.
