BASIC PROCEDURES
Sta rti ng the Engine
Inse rt key in igni tion switch and turn to
the ON position.
Press the brake pedal.
NOTE: If shift lever is not se t t o PA RK
(P) or ( N) NEU TRAL, the brake pedal
must be pres sed to allow engine start-
ing.
Turn the key to the start position and
hold until the engine star ts.
NOTE: Do not press the accelera-
tor pedal. If the accelerator pedal is
pressed at least 50%, the engine will
not start.
Release the engine st a rt position
immediately when the engine has
started.
NO TICE
If engine does not start
after a few seconds, do not hold the
start position more than 10 seconds.

Op erating the Shift Lever
Apply bra ke s and select the desired
shift lever position.
Release brakes.
NO TICE
When changing gear se-
lection, always completely stop the
vehicle and apply the brakes prior
to shifting. Damage to the gearbox
may occur.
Choos in g the Correct
Range ( Low or High)
It is important to limit situations known
to make the drive belt slip exce ssively.
The main reason the drive belt will slip
is if the gearbox is in high range when it
should b e in low range.
Pay attention to the followi ng:
Low range
Low ra nge s hould be us ed whenever:
– Pulling
– Pushing
– Hauling a load
– 4x4 appli cations
– Mud holes
– Water holes
– C ros sing obsta cles
– C limbing onto trailer
– Hill climbing
It is also recomm ended to use low
range if driving for prolonged pe riods
at speeds under 24 km/h (15 MP H)

High range
High is the default riding range.
Electronic Drive Belt Protection
(if available and activated on your
model)
Some vehicles have the electronic
drive belt protection fu nction acti-
vate d.
Refer to your authorized Can-Am
dealer for availability and possible acti-
vati on.
This function is activated when riding
at too slow speed for the high range,
such as in the follo wing situations:
– Pulling
– Pushing
– Hauling a load
– 4x4 appli cations
– Mud holes
– Water holes
– C ros sing obsta cles
– C limbing onto trailer
– Hill climbing
In the abov e mentioned situation s the
electronic drive belt pro tection will
help protec t the CVT drive bel t from
being damag ed by activating the en-
gine torque limiter. The gauge will a lso
scro ll a
LOW GEAR
messa ge, s ug-
gesting the operator to im m obilize the
vehicle and set to LOW GEA R .
