MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
This section includes instructions for
basic main tenance procedures.
Due to the complexity of some of the
maintenance procedures, goo d me-
chanical skills are required. If you a re
not comforta ble with these proc e-
dures, d o not h esitate to contact an
authorized Can-Am off-road dealer, re-
pair shop or p ers on of your own c hoos -
ing.
WARNING
Unless otherwise indicated, al-
ways turn ignition switch to the
OFF position before performing
any maintenance and remove key.
WARNING
Should removal of a locking de-
vice be required (e.g. lock tab,
self-locking fastener, etc.) , always
replace it with a new one.
Engine Air F i lte r
NO TICE
Never modify the air in-
take system. Otherwise, engine per-
formance degradation or damage
can occur. The engine is calibrated
to operate specifically with these
components.
Engine Air Filter Replacement
Guideline
Engine Air f il ter inspection and
replace-
ment frequency should be a djusted
according to riding c onditions as i t is
critical to ensure proper eng
ine perfor-
mance and life s pa n.
Engine Air fil ter inspectio
n and replace-
ment frequenc y must be inc reased for
the follow ing sev ere ridi ng con ditions:
– Riding on dry sand.
– Riding on dry dirt covered surfaces.
– Riding on dry gravel trails or similar
conditions.
– Riding in areas with high concentra-
tion of seeds or crop husks.
– R iding in severe snow condition s.
NO TICE
When riding in dusty con-
ditions or sand, the air box needs to
be cleaned before every ride.
NOTE: Riding in a group under thes e
conditions would increase even m ore
the ai r filter replacement freq uenc y.
Engine Air Filter Removal
Open cargo box .
Unlatch air filter cover and remove air
filter.

The filter fits tightly over the o utlet
tube and there will be som e initial re-
sistance. Gently move t he end of the
filter bac k and forth to break the sea l,
then rotate while pulling straight out.
Avoid k noc king the filter again st the
housing.
Engine Air Filter Cleaning
Inspect the filter for any s igns of lea ks.
A s trea k of d ust on the cle an side of
the filter is a telltale sign. Replace filter
if there is a ny damages. Eliminate a ny
source of air leaks before installing a
new filter.
Clean engine air filter by ta pping out
heavy dust from pa per e lement, this
will allow dirt and dust to get out of the
paper filter.
