1. Grille tab
Clean air filters by washing them in
lukewarm water with mild soap. Re-
move excess water and air dry b efore
installation.
The installation is the reverse of the re-
moval procedure.
Muffler and Spark Arrester
Muffler Spark Arrester Cleaning and
Inspection (HD8)
CAUTION Never perform this
operation immediately after the en-
gine has been running as exhaust
system is very hot.
Remove and discard the tail pipe retain-
ing bolts and nuts.

Remov e exhaust tail pipe, ga sket (dis-
card) and spark arrester.

Remove carbon deposits from the
spark arrester us ing a brus h.
NO TICE
Use a metallic soft brush
and be careful to avoid damaging
spark arrester mesh.

1. Clean spark arrester
Inspect m es h of spark arrester fo r any
damage. Replace a s required.
Inspect spark arrester cham ber in muf-
fler. R emove any deb ris as r equired.
Reinstall the muffler spark arrester in
the rev ers e of the removal procedure.
However pay attention to the follow-
ing.
Install new gasket and fasteners.
Tighten to spec ification.
