NOISE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM REGULATION
Tampering with Noise Control System Is Prohibited!
U.S. Federal law a nd Canadian provin cial laws may prohibit the follow ing ac ts or
the causing there of:
1. The remov al or rend ering inoperative by a ny p erso n other than for purposes of
main tena nce, repair or replacement of any de vice or element of design incorpo-
rated into any new v ehicle for the purpo se of noise control prior to its sale or de-
livery to the ultimate purchaser or while it is in use or
2. The use of the vehicle after such device or elem ent of design has been re-
mo ve d or rendered inop erative by any person.
Among those Acts Presumed to Constitute Tampering Are the Acts Listed Be-
low:
1. R em oval or alteration or the puncturing of the muffler or a ny engine component
which conducts remov a l of engine exhaust ga s es .
2. R em oval or alteration or the puncturing of any part of the i ntake system.
3. R eplacing any moving parts of the vehicle or parts of the exhaus t or i ntake sys-
tem, with parts other than those specified by the manufac turer.
4. Lack of proper maintena nc e.
