AVOID ACCIDENTS
Avoid Rollovers and
Tipovers
Side-by-side vehi cles handle differ-
ently from other vehicles. S ide-by -si de
vehicles are designed to handle
off-road terrain (for ex am ple, their
wheel ba s e and track w idth, ground
clearance, suspensio n, drivetrain,
tires, etc.), and, as a res ult, can over-
turn in situations where vehicles de-
signed for us e pri m arily on paved or
smooth terrain may not.
A rollover or other accident can oc-
cur quick ly during abrupt maneuvers
such as sharp turns or hard accelera-
tion or deceleration when turning, or
when driving on hills or over obs ta-
cles. Abrupt m a neuvers or aggress ive
driving can cause rollovers or l oss of
control even in flat open areas. If the
vehicle rolls over, any pa rt o f your body
(such as arms, l egs , or head) outs ide of
the cockpit can be crushed a nd trapped
by the c a ge or ROPS or other parts of
the vehicle . You can also be injured
by impact w ith the grou nd, cockpit or
other objec ts.
To reduc e the risk of rollovers:
– Use care when turning .
• Do not turn the steering whee l
too far or to o fast for your speed
and env ironment. Adjust steer-
ing in puts according to your
speed and environm ent.
• Sl ow dow n before entering a
turn. Avoid hard braking duri ng
a turn.
• Avoid sudden or hard accele ra-
tion when turnin g, ev en from a
stop or low speed.
– Nev er attempt d onuts , skids, slides,
fishtails, jump s, or other st unts. If
vehicle starts to s k id or slide, steer
in the direction of the skid or slide.
Never slam the brakes and l ock the
wheels.
– Avoid paved surfaces. This v ehi-
cle is not designed to operate on
paved surfaces and is more likely to
roll over. If you must drive on pave-
ment, turn gradually, go sl owly, and
avoid abrupt accelerati on and brak-
ing.
This vehicle can roll over sideways
or tip over forward or backwards on
slopes or uneven terra in.
– Avoid side hilling (driving along the
slope rather than up or d own a hill).
When possible, drive s traight up and
down inclines rather tha n acros s
them. If you m us t side hi ll, us e ex-
treme c a ution and avoid s li ppery
surfaces, objects, or depressions. If
you feel the vehicle start to rol lover
or slide si deways, steer downhi ll if
possible.
– Avoid steep hills and follow proce-
dures in this guide for c limbing and
descendi ng hills.
– Sudden cha nges in terrain su ch as
holes, de pres sions , banks, softer or
harder ground or other irregularities
may cause the vehicl e to tip or be-
come unstable. Observe the terrain
ahead an d slow down in areas of un-
even terrain.
This vehicle wi ll handle d ifferently
when carrying or pulling a load.
– R educ e speed and follow instruc-
tions in this manual for c a rrying
cargo or pulling a trailer.
– Avoid hills and rough terrain.
– Allow more distance to stop.
Be Prepared in Case of Rollover
– Fasten side nets and fasten seat
belt to help you avoid s tick ing out
arms o r legs .
