Ignition Switch
The ignition sw itc h is loca t ed on the up-
per console area .

IGNITION SWITCH POSITION
1. OFF
2. ACC
3. ON
4. START
OFF
The key ca n be inserted or remov ed in
this position only.
In OFF position, the electrical system
of the vehicle is disabled.
The e ngine is sh ut down by turning the
ignition switch to OFF pos ition .
ACC
Only accessories such as the he ater,
wiper or ra dio are powe red up.
NOTE: The ACC position a lso shuts
down the engine
NO TICE
Remember to always re-
turnyourkeytotheOFFposition
for a complete electrical shutdown.
Leaving the key in ACC will drain
the battery and the vehicle may not
restart.
ON
When the key is turned in this position,
the electrical system of the vehicle is
acti vated.
The gauge should wake-up.
The vehicle lights a re tu rned on.
The eng ine can be started.
START
This position sta rts the engine.
NOTE: If the ignition switch is left
ON for m ore than 30 minutes , engine
will not start unles s ign ition s witch is
turned OF F, then ON again.
Keys
Basic Key
The vehicle is delivered with 2 ba s ic
key. one with a rubber protection and
one witho ut.
D.E.S.S. Key
For all D.E.S. S. related option, see an
authorized Can-Am dealer for info rma-
tion.
Digitally Encoded Security
System (D.E.S.S.)
The ignition keys contain a n electronic
circuit that gives it a u nique electronic
serial number.
The D.E.S.S. system reads the k ey
code and allows engine starting for
keys it recognizes.
This vehicle can be opera ted usin g 3
different typ es of key programming:
–Work
–Normal
– Performance
