8.4.2. Grid Connect C1000 Connections to a CLC
There are two versions of the CLC; one for Dual Mode applications and one limited to grid connect
only applications. A grid connect C1000 can be connected to either a Dual Mode CLC or a grid
connect only CLC, however the wiring will be slightly different. Grid connect C1000s do not include
the star communications topology for the MultiPac master 10Base-2 (COAX) connections.
Instead, the C1000 Controller’s panel PC is wired to a 10Base-T to 10Base-2 media converter,
and COAX lines are then daisy-chained to the C200 microturbine bays. Therefore:
To connect to a Dual Mode CLC, disconnect the CAT5 Ethernet cable from the
10Base-2 to 10Base-T media converter in the C1000 Controller enclosure and connect
an Ethernet cable from the CLC Ethernet switch 2 to the media converter. Turn off the
C1000 Controller panel PC. Connect a second Ethernet cable from CLC Ethernet
switch 1 to U5 in the C1000 Controller enclosure.
To connect to a grid connect CLC model, there will be no MultiPac master connection
available (no Ethernet switch 2). Therefore, disconnect the CAT5 Ethernet cable from
the 10Base-2 to 10Base-T media converter in the C1000 Controller enclosure and turn
off the C1000 Controller panel PC. Connect an Ethernet cable from CLC Ethernet
switch 1 to U5 in the C1000 Controller enclosure.
