Removal and Installation
1. Loosen the strap bolt and the pivot
bolt. Turn the adjusting bolt
counterclockwise until the belt is
loose. Remove and discard the
alternator belt.

2. Install a new alternator belt. See
Alternator Belt Inspection and
Adjustment and adjust the
alternator belt to the correct
tension.
NOTE: The illustration is shown with
the removal of the alternator shield to
show service points. NEVER operate
the machine without the shield in place.

Inspection and Adjustment
1. Check the air conditioner
compressor belt for the correct
tension with a belt tension gauge
as shown in the illustration.

2. The correct tension for a new belt
is 130 to 150 pound force (578 to
667 Newtons) for a used belt is 80
to 120 pound force (356 to 534
Newtons).
