Step 1
Creates a switch virtual interface by entering a VLAN ID, and
enter interface configuration mode.
interface vlan vlan-id
Example:
Switch(config)# interface vlan 1
Step 2
Configures the interface with an IP address and an IP subnet.
ip address ip-address subnet-mask
Example:
Switch(config-if)# ip address 192.108.1.27
255.255.255.0
Step 3
Specifies the DHCP packet forwarding address.
ip helper-address address
Step 4
Example:
Switch(config-if)# ip helper-address
172.16.1.2
The helper address can be a specific DHCP server address, or it
can be the network address if other DHCP servers are on the
destination network segment. Using the network address enables
other servers to respond to DHCP requests.
If you have multiple servers, you can configure one helper address
for each server.
Returns to global configuration mode.end
