To disable RIP globally, use the no router rip command in CONFIGURATION mode.
Congure RIP on Interfaces
When you enable RIP globally on the system, interfaces meeting certain conditions start receiving RIP routes.
By default, interfaces that you enable and congure with an IP address in the same subnet as the RIP network address receive RIPv1 and
RIPv2 routes and send RIPv1 routes.
Assign IP addresses to interfaces that are part of the same subnet as the RIP network identied in the network command syntax.
Controlling RIP Routing Updates
By default, RIP broadcasts routing information out all enabled interfaces, but you can congure RIP to send or to block RIP routing
information, either from a specic IP address or a specic interface.
To control which devices or interfaces receive routing updates, congure a direct update to one router and congure interfaces to block
RIP updates from other sources.
To control the source of RIP route information, use the following commands.
• Dene a specic router to exchange RIP information between it and the Dell Networking system.
ROUTER RIP mode
neighbor ip-address
You can use this command multiple times to exchange RIP information with as many RIP networks as you want.
• Disable a specic interface from sending or receiving RIP routing information.

Assigning a Prex List to RIP Routes
Another method of controlling RIP (or any routing protocol) routing information is to lter the information through a prex list. A prex list is
applied to incoming or outgoing routes.
Those routes must meet the conditions of the prex list; if not, Dell Networking OS drops the route. Prex lists are globally applied on all
interfaces running RIP. Congure the prex list in PREFIX LIST mode prior to assigning it to the RIP process.
For conguration information about prex lists, refer to Access Control Lists (ACLs).
To apply prex lists to incoming or outgoing RIP routes, use the following commands.
• Assign a congured prex list to all incoming RIP routes.
ROUTER RIP mode
distribute-list prefix-list-name in
• Assign a congured prex list to all outgoing RIP routes.

To view the current RIP conguration, use the show running-config command in EXEC mode or the show config command in
ROUTER RIP mode.
