3.4 Features
The Xplorer pipettes are motor-driven and electronically-controlled piston-stroke pipettes
for aspirating and dispensing liquids according to the air cushion principle. The Xplorer
pipette family includes single-channel and multi-channel pipettes (8 or 12 channels).
Depending on the Xplorer pipette, volumes from 0.5 µL to 10 mL can be dispensed. The
liquid is aspirated into a pipette tip which has been fitted to the Xplorer pipette.
The central operating control of the Xplorer pipette is a rocker switch. The color of the
rocker switch varies according to the volume range of the Xplorer Pipette. The rocker
switch has different functions during dispensing and when editing the dispensing
parameters. It can either be pushed upwards or downwards.
The lower parts of the Xplorer pipettes can be autoclaved.
On all Xplorer pipettes with a nominal volume of 10 µL to 1000 µL, the tip cone has a
spring-loading action when a pipette tip is attached.
A protection filter can be inserted in 5 mL and 10 mL Xplorer pipettes to protect the tip
cone against liquids.
