5.7 Using pipette tips
The liquid to be dispensed is aspirated into pipette tips.
The pipette can only be used if a pipette tip has been attached. You can either attach the
pipette tip by hand or directly insert the end of the pipette into a tip held in the tip storage
box (e.g., epT.I.P.S. tray).
5.8 Volume limit in the case of pipette tips with a filter
A filter in the pipette tip reduces the volume of the pipette tip. With some ep Dualfiter
T.I.P.S filter tips, the volume of liquid aspirated must be limited in all dispensing modes
The color coding of the pipette matches that of the epT.I.P.S. tray.
If you attach a pipette tip by hand, it must be handled in a way that prevents both
the contamination and heating of the pipette tip.
1. Select the appropriate pipette tip(s).
2. Fit the appropriate pipette tip on the tip
cone, applying light pressure.
The pipette tip is fitted securely when
the tip cone responds with spring-loaded
action.
You can deactivate the spring-loaded action of the tip cones.
The tip cones on pipette models larger than 1000 µL do not respond with
spring-loaded action.
Do not use filter tips if a filter sleeve with protection filter is inserted.
