6.2.3 Liquid
Symptom/Message Possible cause Remedy
Liquid is dripping
from the tip and/or
the dispensed
volume is incorrect.
• The pipette tip is loose or
does not fit correctly.
 Attach the tip firmly.
 Use epT.I.P.S.
• Liquid with high vapor
pressure and/or different
density.
 Wet the tip multiple times.
 Adjust the pipette for the
liquid used.
• Pipetting was too quick.
 Set a lower speed.
• The tip was withdrawn from
the liquid too early or too
quickly.
 Withdraw the tip from the
liquid slowly and with a time
delay (of about 3 seconds for
large volumes) after
aspiration.
• Liquid dispensed without
blow-out (Blow) in Pip mode.
 Trigger blow-out (Blow) after
dispensing has been
completed during standard
pipetting applications.
• The piston is contaminated.
 Clean and lightly lubricate
the piston.
• The piston is damaged.
 Replace the piston.
• The tip cone is damaged.
 Replace the lower part or
channel.
• The O-rings of the tip cones
are damaged.
 Replace the O-rings (only
100 L, 300 L, 1 200 µL
multi-channel).
Liquid flows
unevenly into or out
of the tip.
• The piston is contaminated.
• The tip is damaged
• The seal is dirty.
• The pipette is blocked.
 Clean and lightly lubricate
the piston.
 Use a new tip.
 Clean the lower part.
 Replace the protection filter
(for 5 mL and 10 mL).
The following
message appears
briefly before the
aspiration:
Selected volume not
possible with stored
adjustment!
• A factor that was determined
during adjustment leads to a
very high stroke increase.
This high stroke increase
limits the dispensing volume.
 Confirm the error message
with the OK softkey.
The situation can only be
remedied by changing the
adjustment.
 Make sure that you are
authorized to carry out the
adjustment.
