4.2.4.3 Removing the Pump and Capping Assemblies
1. Remove the housin

2. Remove the control panel.

3. Remove the waste ink pad assembl

4. Remove the 2 screws located on the ri
g
ht-front ed

e of the paper

ect frame. See Fi

ure 4-9. Then loosen the screw located on the
left-front ed
g
e of the paper e

ect frame. This loosens the front frame
and facilitates access to the parts underneath.
5. To remove the cappin

mechanism, release the hooks that secure
the it to the ri

ht side of the frame. See Fi

ure 4-9. Lift up the

mechanism b

ht end to free the hooks on its left end.
Then remove it b
y
lowerin

it out the bottom of the printer. Note that
the cappin

mechanism is still connected to the pump assembl

the ink drain tube.
6. Tilt the printer back so that

ou can see the bottom of the printer
mechanism. See Fi

7. To remove the pump assembl

, take out the 2 screws

CAUTION
 The head cleaning blade must be fully retracted when
the pump is removed. Otherwise, a spring in the
pump assembly will cause parts to fly out when you
remove the assembly.
 Do not damage the black rubber seal around the edge
of the ink cap. If it gets damaged, the printhead
cannot be cleaned properly and will malfunction.
 When handling the head cleaning blade, observe the
following points:

Do not touch the blade with

our bare hands. Use
g
loves or tweezers.

Do not let oil or
g
rease come in contact with the blade.

When installin
g
the cleanin
g
blade, the rubber half
must face the ri
g
ht side of the printer, and the felt half
must face the left.
 Do not over-tighten the two screws securing the
pump assembly to the frame.
 Be careful not to crush or crimp the ink drain tube
connecting the pump and capping assemblies.

 After installing the pump assembly, make sure that the
head cleaner blade moves back and forth by rotating
gear 67.2.
