5.3.6 Enabling the motor controller via digital inpu ts
When the output stage enable (D IN4) and controller enable (DIN 5) are activated, the specifications
issued by the controller are ca rried out by the drive.
Caution
Unexpected movement of the drive
If the following conditions are fulfilled:
– Activate output stage enable (DIN4 = 24 V)[X1.21][X1.1.21/X1.2.21]
– Activate controller enable ( DIN5 = 24 V)[X1.9][X1.1.9/X1.2.9]
– Setpoint value specified via control interface “Fieldbus/analogue input”
the drive (motor/axis) will start moving; it is then capable of causing cr ushing injuries in
the operating area of the drive.
• Make sure that no personnel are in the operating area of the drive.
• Make sure that the motor c ontroller is only controlled by one c ontrol interface (mas-
ter control).
Caution
Defective safety function STO (Safe Torque Off)
If the safety func tion at connection [ X3] [ X3.1/X3.2] is bypassed, it means the motor
controller cannot be deactivated in the event of an emergency via safety components
(e.g. emergenc y off switch with safety switching device), which can result in c rushing
injuries within the operating area of the drive.
• Parameterise the motor controller with the Festo Configuration Tool ( FCT) before the
controller enable is enabled (DIN5)[X1.9][ X1.1.9/X1.2.9] (= 24 V).
• Bypassing of safety equipment is impermissible.
Recommendation for initial start-up without safety equipment:
– Minimum circuitry with emergency stop switching device at connection
[X3][X3.1/X3.2]
– Two-channel switc h-off via c ontrol por ts REL [X3.2] [ X3.1.2/X3.2.2] and the out-
put stage enable (DIN4)[X1.21][X1.1.21/X1.2.21].
