• Identification label patterns
When a memory module is viewed with the corner circled in the above figure to the lower left,
identification labels are applied in any of the following patterns.
6.4.3 Memory Redundant Function
Memory mirroring function
Change settings with the BIOS setup utility to use the memory mirroring function. Memory mirroring
consists of two memory pairs. The available memory capacity (logical capacity) is half of the physical
capacity. One memory pair is set to primary and the other to secondary. When data is stored in memory,
the same data is written in both memory pairs.
Even if an irrecoverable memory failure occurs, OS operation will continue. After a memory failure
occurs, the memory mirroring configuration can not be maintained and the memory mirroring function
is disabled.
Installation conditions
A mirror set consists of two memory pairs. There is no problem with mirror sets having different
capacities.
With this server, two mirror sets can be composed of the pair of memory pairs 1 and 2 and the pair of
memory pairs 3 and 4.
BIOS settings
After installing the memory modules, perform the following settings to enable the memory mirroring
function.
1 Install the memory modules.
"6.4.4 How to Install or Remove Memory Modules" (p.145)
2 Start the BIOS Setup Utility.
"7.2.1 Starting and Exiting the BIOS Setup Utility" (p.176)
