How to set up LAN (Ethernet) connection on Gilson 157?
    • R
      Robin ZunigaAug 25, 2025
To establish a LAN (Ethernet) connection for your Gilson Laboratory Equipment, ensure the instrument is connected to a router via Ethernet. Verify the following procedure has been followed: 1. Connect the router to a power source and wait 30 seconds for it to initialize. 2. With the instrument powered OFF, connect one end of an Ethernet cable to a port on the router and the other end to the ETHERNET port on the rear panel of the instrument. 3. Power the instrument ON and wait 1 minute for it to initialize. The instrument will be assigned an IP address via DHCP from the router at this time. 4. Using an Ethernet cable, connect one end of the cable to the connector on the computer and the other end to a port on the router.

What to do if Gilson 157 cannot be calibrated?
    • D
      Douglas MirandaSep 3, 2025
If your Gilson Laboratory Equipment cannot be calibrated, try the following: * Tighten the knurled-head screws on the cover plate to prevent incursion from interfering light or an electronic error. * Insert the test cell. * Inspect the calibration with a weak absorbing eluent.

How to fix baseline noise in Gilson 157 Laboratory Equipment?
    • B
      Barbara AdamsNov 10, 2025
To address baseline noise in your Gilson Laboratory Equipment, consider the following: * Ensure the knurled-head screws on the cover plate are tightened to prevent light interference or electronic errors. * Allow the lamp to warm up for at least 15–30 minutes. * Eliminate drafty air currents and temperature variations by moving the detector away from windows or doors. * Check grounds on all instruments and eliminate ground loops by connecting the detector and recorder to the same power outlet. * Ensure solvents are degassed. * If you see baseline deflection when back pressure is exerted on the flow cell, you probably have bubbles trapped in the cell. Try one of these methods to eliminate bubbles: Increase back pressure on the cell by connecting pressure regulator tubing to the...

How to troubleshoot baseline drift in Gilson Laboratory Equipment?
    • E
      Erica VillarrealNov 16, 2025
To resolve baseline drift in your Gilson Laboratory Equipment: * Maintain constant temperature conditions during the measurement. * Allow the lamp to warm up for at least 15–30 minutes. * Eliminate changes in ambient temperature. If drift is temperature-dependent, eliminate drafts and avoid areas of direct sunlight. * Check for a contaminated or “bleeding” column. If the drift disappears after removing column connections, regenerate or replace the column. * Be sure solvents are degassed. * If you see baseline deflection when back pressure is exerted on the flow cell, you probably have bubbles trapped in the cell. Try one of these methods to eliminate bubbles: Increase back pressure on the cell by connecting pressure regulator tubing to the flow cell outlet. * Increase back p...
