Model 574 Programmable Counting System (PCS)
232 - GSE Scale Systems
P101.01 Scl 1 Saved
This parameter is used to save setup and calibration data
while still disabling scale 1. When disable is selected, its
setup and calibration are retained in EEPROM memory,
while the scale is disabled. Scale 1 may not be selected
from the weigh mode in this setup.
P101.02 Scl 1 Enbld
This parameter is used to enable scale 1. When enabled
is selected, its setup and calibration are retained in
EEPROM memory, and scale 1 may be selected from the
weigh mode.
P102.00 thru P103.02 are identical to P101.00 thru
P101.02 for scales 2 and 3 when the multi-scale option
cards are installed.

22.4 Installation
As indicated, the ribbon cable is provided along with the
circuit board. However, the part number of the ribbon
cable alone has been provided is case a replacement
cable is required.
The following installation instructions are broken down
into two sections, one for installing the first Multi-Scale
option into a 574 and one for putting a second Multi-
Scale option into a 574 scale.
The scale base connected into the first Multi-Scale option
will be referred to as scale #2, while the base connected
into the second option becomes scale #3.
Hardware installation procedure for your First
Multi-Scale Option Kit: (Refer to figure 33)
a. Turn off the instrument by disconnecting it
from the AC power source.
1 The Multi-Scale option is easily installed without
removing the 574 housing. Simply unfasten the
circular cover/sample platter in the right rear of the
top of the housing by loosening the single screw on
the bottom of the chassis in the center of this cover.
Remove the circular platter/cover.
2 Remove the lower plate (marked "Scale 2") covering
the rear panel 'D' connector opening by removing the
screw at each end.
3 Looking into the circular opening on the 574 place
the rectangular insulator sheet (item 1) over the two
threaded studs. The notch in the insulator should
clear the metal post which fastens the chassis to the
housing.
4 Next, place one of the nylon spacers (item 2) over
each stud and against the insulator.
5 Straighten out the ribbon cable (item 6) supplied
with the circuit board. Note the rectangular bump on
one side of the connector on each end of the cable.
Guide the end of the cable whose bump is opposite
the cable exit side of the connector into the housing
and toward the main circuit board while holding
onto the other end of the cable. Align the connector
with the open header and then press down on the
connector.
6 Put the Multi-Scale circuit board (item 3) into the
housing and connect the other end of the cable into
the header near the edge of the board, marked J1.
7Slant the circuit board into position over the studs
CAUTION:
This procedure should be performed by qualified
service personnel only! Hazardous voltages are
accessible within the instrument.
