Model 574 Programmable Counting System (PCS)
236 - GSE Scale Systems
external sensing! With sense jumpers left uncut, no
connection is necessary to the sense pins of the scale
platform connector.
The internal connector is intended to be used with GSE's
Model 4503 low capacity sample scale option which
comes with the mating connector attached. For very
short cables, as with the 4503, sense leads provide little
benefit. However with longer cables, sense leads can
provide substantial improvements in performance,
particularly with varying temperatures.
Shielding:
In order to achieve optimum performance and eliminate
the effects of external electrical noise (EMI and RFI), it
is necessary to use shielded cable. The shielding of the
cable should be connected to the metal shell of the 'D'
connector with the lowest impedence connection
possible. The best way to achieve this is to use a metal
backshell on the 'D' connector and fold the shield
backwards over the cable, clamping the shield between
the shell and the cable.
22.5 Factory Calibration Information and
Setup Instructions
Each Multi-Scale option is supplied with a calibration
data sheet. This information is unique to the specific A/
D on the multi-scale board. This values supplied should
be entered into the appropriate parameters of the 574 that
the Multi-Scale option is being installed, for each option
installed. Entering this data insures the best possible
performance of the Multi-Scale option, particularly
regarding operation over a wide temperature range.
The format of the calibration data printout is the same as
that produced by a 574 during a download of its setup
using parameter P64000. The first column specifies the
parameter number followed by "%s" (for [SELECT]) and
the following number is the calibration value for that
parameter and is followed by a "%e" (for [ENTER]).
The parameters which are of importance are P61210
through P61222. The values provided for these
parameters must be entered into the parameters of the
same number on the 574 if the Multi-Scale option is
installed as scale #2 (ie connected directly to the 574's
main board) or into P61310 through P61322 if the Multi-
Scale option is installed as scale #3 (ie connected to the
first Multi-Scale option). To be sure you have the correct
