26.1 Compatible Peripheral Options
GSE offers a number of very useful peripheral
equipment options which should be considered in your
weighing system design. Refer to Table 46 Peripheral
Equipment Options for a complete listing. Each of these
options has been tested and approved for compatibility
with the 574. Consult with GSE for additional technical
information on a particular piece of optional equipment.
The cable options described in Chapter 25 will permit
you to easily implement the connection between your
574 and the Peripheral.
Peripheral Inputs
The 574 permits up to two other peripherals of which
RS-232 data can be received. These inputs to the 574
are intended for use with barcode scanners and external
keyboards.
Both a TTL and an RS-232 inputs are provided, along
with connections for +5 volts and ground. GSE provides
a cable which at one end will connect to the rear panel of
the 574 and the other end will provide the mating
connector to the keyboard, barcode scanners and printers
that GSE provides as peripheral devices.
NOTE:
Transmissions received by the 574 through the Comm
port or from an external keyboard or a barcode device
are all or'd together inside the instrument. Only one
external device can be sending data to the 574 at any one
time. Otherwise communications errors, garbled data,
