3 - Before setting out
3.1 - Vehicle documents
■ Check that all necessary administrative documents are available and up to
date.
– Vehicle registration certicate.
– Valid vehicle insurance certicate ("green card").
– Valid vehicle insurance windscreen badge. This must be inside the
vehicle, aixed to the lower right-hand corner of the windscreen.
– Accident declaration form.
3.2 - Equipment
■ Check for the presence and condition of the following equipment:
– Fire extinguisher.
– Warning triangle.
– Hi-vis vest.
3.3 - Lighting
■ Check the operation of the vehicle lights.
– Headlamps.
– Brake lights.
– Indicator lights.
– Hazard lights.
– Reversing lights.
– Fog light.
■ Adjust your headlamps according to your vehicle loading (refer to the
documents and the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations).
3.4 - Visibility
■ Check that there is good visibility through all of the car's windows.
■ Check the level of windscreen uid in the windscreen uid reservoir (refer to
the documents and the vehicle manufacturer's recommendations).
■ Check the operation of the windscreen wipers.
3.5 - Tyres
Vehicle overload and incorrect tyre pressure can lead to burst tyres.
■ Check that the pressure in the tyres complies with the vehicle
manufacturer’s recommendations.
3.6 - Pop-up roof
■ Check that the pop-up roof is properly closed and locked (see page 97).
3.7 - Sliding bench
■ Check that the sliding bench seat is correctly locked (see page 93).
