3.3 Lamp Test Button
TheLAMPTESTbutton(Figure 3‐4)providesmultiplefunctions,basedonhowlong
thebuttonispressed.Startingwithrelease5.0.0ofthesystemsoftware,theHN4000’slamptest
buttoncanbeset(usingtheconfigsystemcommand’slampTestButtonargument)tooperate
inoneofthefollowingways:
1. thebasic
lamptestandalarmcutoffoperations(pressthebuttonforlessthantwoseconds
totestthelampsandpressthebuttonformorethantwosecondstoresetthealarmport’s
relaycontacts).
2. aswitchrebootoperationinadditiontothebasicoperations(pressthebuttonformore
than10
secondstoreboot).
3. aswitchrenumberingoperationinadditiontothebasicandrebootoperations(pressthe
buttonformorethanfiveseconds,butlessthan10seconds).Theswitch‐numberLEDwill
blink.Pressthebuttontoselectanewswitchnumber(whichmustbeuniquewithinthe
stack).
Afteryoumaketheselection,theswitchwillreboot.

3.3.1 Testing the Device’s Lamps
❒ IfyoupressandholdtheLAMPTESTbuttonforlessthantwoseconds,allofthedevice’s
LEDswillilluminatewhilethebuttonispressed.
❒ Ifyoupressandholdthebuttonformorethantwosecondsbutlessthanfiveseconds,the
LEDsreturntonormaloperation.
The default setting is to support all four operations as described in #3 above (lamp test, alarm cut-
off, reboot, and renumbering).
In releases of the system software prior to release 5.0.0, all three lamp test operations are
enabled.
