13 Tips and recommendations
13.1 System overload (Note 26.32)
Without BSB:
Reduce the refuel amount.
Check the remaining accumulator load and the heating demand.
With BSB:
If, despite adding the displayed fuel amount, the overtemperature is higher than 1%, check the
following (shown in operations counter "Overt. 10 b/c"):
1. Check or reduce parameter 5.08 PH-design.
2. Check or increase parameter 9.02 Acc. reserve.
Solar system: If the solar system covers the heat requirement only partially, we recommend to fire the wood boiler in
the late afternoon to ensure optimal efficiency of the solar system.
If you fire in the midmorning the system may get into overtemperature, depending on the solar power, this may cause
fouling of the boiler and chimney and high fuel consumption.
Depending on the weather forecast for the next day and the heating demand, the fuel amount may be reduced. This
serves to supply a free loading capacity to the solar arrangement for the next day. Follow the recommended minimum
fuel amount for starting the fire (usually not less than 40% - measured in the height of the chamber to be filled).
13.2 Calculating the loading capacity of the accumulator
Because the accumulator with available heating demand cannot be loaded to capacity with the boiler flow
temperature, a medium accumulator temperature, which is calculated as follows:
“Boiler set value minus 5K, e.g. 88°C minus 5K = 83°C.
The loading difference is calculated as follows: 83°C (medium accumulator temperature) minus 40°C (see 9.03 Refuel
signal); it comes up to 43K.
The loading capacity (kWh) is calculated as follows:
“Acc. volume” x “Loading difference”
860
With an accumulator volume of 2000L and a loading difference of 43K the loading capacity is 100kWh. If the
accumulator is charged up to 100kWh and the heating demand is 5kW, the accumulator loading is sufficient for 20
heating hours.
13.3 Use of the WA3 for an electric heating application
There is a possibility of using an electric heating application instead of a pellet/oil/gas boiler. The settings required for
this are: 20.01 Operation mode, 20.02 Lock time from, 20.02 Lock time to and 20.06 Enabling. During commissioning
the parameter 20.00 Pellet/Oil/Gas has to be set on "Oil-Gas".
The parameter 20.06 Enabling represents temperature from which the electric heating application is enabled.
Is 20.06 Enabling set, e.g., on 45°C, the electric heating application is switched on if Acc. t.-F4” ≤ 45°C. If the button
(Refuel) is pressed or the accumulator temperature increases, the electric heating application is switched off.
Use: If 20.01 Operation mode is set on "Lock time”, the electric heating does not operate during that
set period.
In order to use an electric heating application the system 2.0 is to be selected.
