cir committed-information-rate: Specifies the CIR in kbps. The committed-information-rate argument
has the following value ranges:
• 8 to 10485760 for 10-GE interfaces.
• 8 to 41943040 for 40-GE interfaces.
• 8 to 104857600 for 100-GE interfaces.
The specified value must be an integral multiple of 8.
cbs committed-burst-size: Specifies the CBS in bytes. The value range for committed-burst-size is
512 to 16777216, in increments of 512. The default value for this argument is the product of 62.5 and
the CIR and must be an integral multiple of 512. When the product is not an integral multiple of 512,
it is rounded up to the nearest integral multiple of 512 that is greater than the product. A default value
greater than 16777216 is converted to 16777216.
Usage guidelines
The specified CIR does not take interframe gaps into account and is smaller than the actually shaped
rate on an interface.
An interframe gap is a time interval of 12 bits between frames. This gap serves the following roles:
• Allows the device to differentiate one frame from another.
• Allows for time for the device to process the current frame and to be prepared to receive the
next frame.
